Westside Santa Cruz

The ” Westside” of town begins to the North side of the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor. The Westside is home to a variety of notable Santa Cruz icons.

The Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor is home to some world-renowned sailors, sailboats and yacht builders. From Wednesday Night Sailboat Races, whale watching on the O’Neill Catamaran or Chardonnay Sailing Charters to going on a fishing expedition on one of the many vessels in the harbor, you will find a friendly and adventurous vibe here.

One of its most notable and prestigious icons is the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC). Located above the city amongst the redwoods, it’s known to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. UCSC is the largest employer in SC County and one of the most respected institutions of learning in California.

Downtown features an outdoor mall, filled with an eclectic group of people and shops, the nostalgic Bookshop Santa Cruz, art and jewelry galleries, music venues such as the Catalyst, movie theaters, and a great selection of eateries from Mexican to Vegan.

The Beach Boardwalk is one of the first seaside amusement parks in the US and is a popular vacation destination for many. There, you will be treated to a thrilling ride on the iconic Big Dipper Roller Coaster or take a ride on the Louff Merry Go Round built in 1911. There are many other attractions such as the Santa Cruz Wharf, miniature golf, bowling, and  lot’s of shopping and restaurants located right above the sand of the main beach.

With white sand and crashing waves the main beach stretches from the SC Yacht Harbor to The Wharf. Iconic Cowell’s Beach is on the north side of The Wharf. This historic beach is highly visited by families and long boarders and is home to the illustrious Santa Cruz Junior Life Guards and the nostalgic Dream Inn hotel. This is a great place to learn how to surf or hoan in your skills.

West Cliff Drive follows the coast north along the cliffside. West Cliff features a paved foot and bike path and has some of the most beautiful views year round. Homes along West Cliff and in the neighborhoods enjoy some of the best lifestyle SC has to offer. The Westside is home to the famous Steamer’s Lane, a world class surf break and the historic Lighthouse and Surf Museum.

Most summer mornings along the coast are cool and then turn into blustery sunny afternoons. Winters are cool, clear and sunshiny with viability for miles.
